The aim of the baccalaureate degree program is to foster the development of your self understanding, caring, collaboration, ethical thought and action, intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and judgment 鈥� as well as integrating Christian faith with scientific knowledge and clinical expertise.
- A minimum 125 credits are required for this major, including 80 upper-division credits.
- You may complete all your coursework at SPU or you may transfer in your prerequisite, general education, and elective coursework from other institutions.
- If you are a transfer student, you must complete a Direct Transfer Associate of Arts Degree or a Direct Transfer Pre-Nursing Degree (DTA) before your the transition to SPU.

Apply to the major聽
If you are a currently enrolled SPU student, your preparation for entry into the Nursing major begins the first quarter of your freshman year. Upon completion of the first quarter of your freshman year, you can request a nursing faculty advisor through the . Students may apply annually between Oct 15 and January 15.
- Your application for admission to the major in Nursing must be received in the School of Health Sciences Lydia Green Nursing Program no later than January 15.

Transfer and post-baccalaureate students
If you are a transfer or post-baccalaureate student, you must complete the following items and submit to Undergraduate Admissions. The forms must be received no later than January 15:

If you have no SPU credits, you must have a minimum 3.5 GPA in the combined prerequisites, with no course less than a 鈥淐鈥� grade, to be eligible for consideration.
Note: The primary focus of the Equivalency Guide is the Puget Sound region. But if courses are not listed in the equivalency guide, it does not necessarily mean they are not equivalent. The transcript evaluation process begins in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and is finalized in .
Preference is given to students with a completed Direct Transfer Agreement associates degree (DTA). The SPU application is completed online; all other application materials must be mailed together and received by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions no later than January 15. You are encouraged to apply early.
Mid-program transfer
You are a mid-program transfer student if you have completed nursing coursework at another school and now seek admission into SPU鈥檚 Nursing program at any time other than the Autumn Quarter of your junior year.
