Withdrawal

Withdrawal from courses

The policy for withdrawing from a class is as follows:

  • A withdrawal from a course during the first week of the quarter will not appear on the transcript.
  • A withdrawal from a course during weeks two through seven of the quarter will be noted with a "W" (withdrawal) on the transcript.
  • You are able to drop classes online through 11:59 p.m. on the tenth day of the quarter.
  • After the tenth day of the quarter, you must obtain the required signatures to withdraw from a course. are available online.
  • The withdrawal form must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. in Student Academic Services, DH 151, on the drop deadline date. Deadlines are listed on the University Academic Calendar.
  • No withdrawals are accepted after the seventh week of the quarter.
  • If you do not provide proper written notification to Student Academic Services, financial obligations will remain binding, regardless of whether classes were attended or whether any contracted services were utilized.
  • Should you desire to complete the course during a future quarter, you will be required to register and pay the current tuition for the course.

Whatever the situation, you should communicate your intent to your advisor and instructor. Before dropping a course, consider the percentage of refund for which you are eligible and any impacts on your financial aid package, if applicable. 

If you fail to withdraw through SAS by the end of the withdrawal period (see the for specific dates), the instructor will issue the grade you earned.

Complete withdrawal from school

Students who desire to withdraw from ɬÀï·¬ should complete the (PDF) and submit it to for processing. If students are registered for courses, they are able to withdraw via the web, but only until 4:30 p.m. on the fifth day of the quarter.

Refunds and adjustments to the student’s account are governed by the financial policies listed in Costs and Financial Aid.

A student who is registered but does not attend classes is responsible to cancel his or her registration or to contact Student Academic Services in writing. The date this withdrawal takes place will determine the amount of refund, where applicable.

If a student fails to withdraw through Student Academic Services by the end of the sixth week of the quarter, the student will receive the grade earned and possibly no refund.

Administrative withdrawals

Student Academic Services will administratively withdraw a student from a course due to one of the following circumstances:

  • The course was cancelled and all enrolled students needed to be withdrawn.
  • The student did not meet the prerequisite after grades were submitted at the end of the prior quarter.
  • The student is repeating a course for a second time and has not received instructor permission to stay in the class.

Student Financial Services has the right to have a student completely withdrawn from classes due to an unpaid balance.

Parking refunds

To be eligible for a refund of parking fees, you must inform the Office of Safety and Security. Parking refunds are calculated in accordance with the tuition refund policy.
