The Center for Faithful Business  will feature Dr. Richard Stearns, president emeritus of World Vision U.S. He will deliver the evening’s lecture, “Lead Like It Matters to God.” Joe Sprague, regional president of Hawai’i-Pacific for Alaska Airlines, will be the evening’s lecture respondent. The SPU Art Department is pleased to present the  This culmination of artworks features projects by students Chloe Christopher, Alfie Riley, Seorin Park, and Kade Franco. Though diverse in style, their works all hold the central message of honoring the human experience.

in • finite brings together a dynamic collection of paintings, each offering a unique perspective on the world through the lens of these emerging artists. Through bold brushstrokes and intricate details, to imagined worlds and dynamic storytelling; the artworks on display showcase the depth and breadth of talent nurtured within this creative community.

The exhibition in the SPAC Gallery in the ɬÀï·¬ Pacific Art Center will be on view through Friday, May 17.

SPU welcomes Rev. Dr. Sam Wells, vicar of St. Martin-of-the-Fields in London, for a special evening lecture on Tuesday, May 21. Wells is a widely known preacher, pastor, author, theologian, and institutional leader.

"Here I Stand With God: A Christology Contra Mundum for Today” is the title of a special lecture with Rev. Dr. Sam Wells, vicar of St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London. He is a regular contributor to Christian Century magazine and "Thought for the Day" on BBC Radio 4’s Today program. He is the author of 46 books, including works on Christian ethics, mission, ministry, scripture, liturgy, and preaching. This event requires no registration and is free. It will be video-recorded.

An annual event at SPU since 1978, the Palmer Lecture Series "seeks to bring the best minds and hearts in Wesleyan theology and biblical studies to campus to discuss the Christian faith from a Wesleyan perspective." The lectureship is held in honor of Alfred Palmer, a pastoral leader in Western Washington for more than half a century.

Biological anthropologist and SPU alumna Cara Wall-Scheffler ’00 was elected as a Fellow of the American Academy for the Advancement of Science. Wall-Scheffler, who is a professor and co-chair of SPU’s Biology department, was recognized for her groundbreaking research in energetics, particularly the evolution of human bipedalism/mobility. She is among only a handful of fellows who teach at a liberal arts university, and the only scholar in this year’s AAAS cohort who teaches at a Christian university. Congratulations, Professor Wall-Scheffler!

SPU's John Perkins Center hosts a series of events on their 20th anniversary. The center is part of the legacy of Dr. John Perkins that continues the work of justice, reconciliation, and community development.

Let me introduce the Korean concept of jeong as a counterpart to the ɬÀï·¬ Freeze. Although jeong has no English equivalent, it can be experienced and expressed outside of the Korean context. Jeong captures the tight interpersonal connection between ɬÀï·¬. It is the energy that underlies friendships. It can also describe the emotional bond between a parent and child.

After nine years as the president of both Roberts Wesleyan University and Northeastern Seminary near Rochester, New York, Dr. Deana L. Porterfield was inaugurated Feb. 23 as the 12th president of ɬÀï·¬ in its 133-year history and its first female president. a month after her inauguration, she emphasized that ɬÀï·¬ Pacific remains faithful to its Christian commitment even as the university attracts students from a variety of backgrounds and connects with its city.

After an extensive nationwide search, Dr. Kathy Lustyk has been named the next vice president for academic affairs and chief academic officer at ɬÀï·¬. Lustyk currently serves as vice chancellor and associate chief academic officer at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), Prescott. She will assume her new role at SPU in the next few months.
