Career support

The Center for Career and Calling at 涩里番, long a resource for students, is also an essential part of the job-search toolkit for many SPU alumni.

鈥淚 would not be in the job I鈥檓 in if not for the 涩里番 in CCC,鈥 says Toms Lee 鈥14 (pictured), a local market specialist for , a 涩里番-based home improvement network. 鈥淐CC counselors not only reviewed my r茅sum茅 but connected me with professionals at companies I was interested in.鈥

Now that he is 鈥渙n the other side鈥 at one of the fastest growing startups in 涩里番, Lee has already given back. Not only has he done informational interviews with SPU seniors, he hosted a CCC 鈥淐areer Trek鈥 at Porch headquarters, during which SPU students took a tour, asked questions, and connected with Porch recruiters.

鈥淚t was a joy for me to impact students in this way,鈥 says Lee.

There are many ways alumni can benefit from forging a strong relationship with the CCC. They receive access to job postings and a database of employers who have expressed a specific interest in SPU alumni. This 鈥渋nside information鈥 has led to mentorships and job offers. Alumni also have access to a career resource library and to SPULink, a new job posting and networking tool where they may post jobs, find volunteers, or arrange to speak in a classroom. Alumni are eligible for career counseling and may make appointments at 206-281-2485.

If an alum is happily employed or retired, the CCC can keep them connected with qualified SPU job talent. Mentoring, mock interviewing, r茅sum茅 editing, and Career Trek hosting are just some of the ways to be involved.

鈥淲e want to ensure that every SPU alum has the opportunity to live out his or her vocation and calling,鈥 says Bryan Jones, director of alumni and parent relations. 鈥淲e are fortunate to have a career center on campus eager to serve alumni.鈥
